About CyTopic

Our Mission

CyTopic is a trilingual online magazine created for and by Cypriot youth aged 15-30. Our mission is to amplify authentic voices from across the island, providing a platform where young people can share their stories, perspectives, and experiences about life in Cyprus.

We believe that storytelling has the power to bridge communities. Through culture, language, creativity, and shared experiences, we aim to foster understanding and connection among all Cypriots, regardless of their background or community.

What We Publish

CyTopic covers topics that matter to young Cypriots:

• Culture: Traditions, festivals, food, music, and the unique cultural heritage of Cyprus
• Language & Dialect: The beauty of Cypriot Greek, Cypriot Turkish, and the linguistic diversity of our island
• Student Life: University experiences, career journeys, and the challenges facing young professionals
• Environment: Conservation efforts, climate action, and our connection to the Mediterranean landscape
• Creativity: Art, literature, photography, and creative expression from Cypriot youth
• Diaspora: Stories from Cypriots living abroad and maintaining connections to their roots

Our Editorial Approach

We are proudly non-party political. CyTopic does not publish party-political content, election campaigns, or divisive political commentary. Instead, we focus on the human side of Cyprus: the traditions that connect us, the languages we speak, the challenges we face as young people, and the creativity that drives us forward.

All submissions go through an editorial review to ensure they meet our guidelines for quality, accuracy, and respectful discourse. We value diverse perspectives and encourage writers from all communities to contribute.

Editorial Guidelines

We maintain high standards for all content published on CyTopic:

• Authenticity: We only publish original content written by real contributors
• Accuracy: Facts and claims should be verifiable and sources credited where appropriate
• Respectful tone: Content must be non-discriminatory and respectful to all communities
• Quality writing: Articles should be well-structured, proofread, and engaging
• Trilingual support: Content can be submitted in English, Greek, or Turkish
